WINTER SESSION 2017-18

BLOG POST #189 AT THE AICP-END

Not often do I possess the opportunity to reminisce about my mom
Bakersfield, CA, 02-21-2018 Wednesday: Friends, welcome to the blog where we celebrate the spectacular talent that MY mother, Beverly Carrick, possessed.  My mom was an amazing artist, one whose legacy resides in the hearts of my brother and I, as well as in our second cousin, Little Christopher.  The love we had for Beverly is a warm one, she was a unique persona to be sure, she loved being well-known and always dressed the part.
I can remember my friends all being enamored by mom because she always dressed well, wore flashy makeup and jewelry, and they all thought she was some sort of movie star, so gorgeous was she.
There is not enough I can say about mom other than that I miss her, I love her, she was the one person that so long as she was alive, I knew I always had an ardent supporter and a damned good friend.  That is not to say that she was always easy to get along with; no, far from it.
Mom was opinionated, and she believed what she believed and knew what she knew.  I can remember getting into arguments with her over things that were wrong in my life and of which, she did not approve; yet, in the end, she was always there and aided me through some of the most problematic times in my life such as when my second wife and I were going through some dreadfully grim times.
Still, we did not come here to discuss ‘me,’ yet, I am here not quite as often as some of my colleagues due to deteriorating health.  I am working on being here more, however, as with my alter ego and damned good friend, Stinky, we are the two hombres who began this blog simply to celebrate Beverly Carrick in the way in which, we should all celebrate her.
Let us look at today’s selection of paintings now:

BEVERLY CARRICK ORIGINAL ARTWORKS FOR FEBRUARY 21, 2018:

#1081 30” x 40” “Sundown Sam”

#1082 24” x 36” “Sunset Rhapsody”

#1083 36” x 24” “Watching the Flock”

#1084 20” x 24” “Palo Verde Creek”

#1085 24” x 30” “Autumn Idyll”

#1086 30” x 24” “Red Rocks and Rapids”

#1087 24” x 36” “Desert Vista”

#1088 24” x 36” “Sensational Sedona”

#1089 12” x 16” “Strolling Along”

#1090 12” x 16” “Bayou Living”

#1091 12” x 16” “Sea Spray”

#1092 20” x 24” “Cactus Country”

#1093 12” x 16” “Far Horizons”

#1094 16” x 12” “Pink Perfection”

#1095 16” x 12” “In My Garden”

One of the unfortunate things that occurred when I broke up with my second wife is that after she drove me to the brink of insanity always crying about how I had ‘an affair,’ she kept the paintings that my mother gave me when I got my first home.
What’s more, she also kept every picture of the time we spent in Hawaii as well as the gorgeous jet-black kukui nut beads given me by her auntie when we first moved to Hawaii, that was how skanky the woman was.  Good riddance is all I can say.
Then again, if she were human enough to restore my paintings to me as well as the photos we had while living in Hawaii as well as the beads, I might change my outlook and attitudes towards her.  Life is short, and we cannot hold grudges or act like assholes to one another but sadly, that seems to be how my PREVIOUS life was.  Thank God I’ve moved on…
Friends, thank you for joining me today; I appreciate your presence here at the secondary blog and note, when I have a chance to do it, we sometimes become personal in our recollections but what the heck- is that not what blogs are for?  For sharing our most personal moments with another?  That is what I thought!
(Note to MK- if you want one or two of my mother’s paintings, this is a damned fine way for you to get them- get your mother to return my stuff).
See you over at the main blog and thank you for spending some time with me today.

Savoy Brown’s next album, “Blue Matter,” came out in May 1969 and featured a slightly different lineup of Kim Simmonds (guitars); Chris Youlden (vocals); “Lonesome” Dave Peverett (rhythm guitar); Tone Stevens (bass); Roger Earl (drums); and Bob Hall (piano).  This album featured a studio side and a live side sans Youlden who was sick so “Lonesome” Dave Peverett stepped up and did the vocals, a modest start for the work he would do with Foghat.  We love this album, it is smoking hot and the opening cut, “Train to Nowhere” and the song that closes out the first side, “Don’t Turn me from Your Door,” are well-worth the price of admission alone.  Ergo why we urge you to use the link we provide you here, so you can go to Amazon.com and pick it up in the format, the condition, and the price that works best for you—you will be so glad you did, have no doubts about it, folks.
