SUMMER SESSION 2017

 BLOGPOST #154 AT THE AICP-END

In my book, Beverly Carrick ranks among the top artists the USA has ever produced
San Diego, CA, 06-21-2017 Wednesday: I read with interest the post by my good friend, Chef Olaf, last Wednesday in which, he shared his views on what it means to be a professional chef as well as an artist.  Artistry exists all around us in the marvelous world in which, we live, some things easily visible while others a bit more difficult to discern.
Beverly Carrick must rank among the best artists our country has produced and believe it or not, we have offered many to the world.  What makes Beverly so unique and different is that she never saw her genius in the paintings she created and needed others to reaffirm her talent.
Do not misunderstand what I am saying my friends, Beverly knew she was a renowned artist but it took massive amounts of sales for a working artist such as she to reinforce the self-image that she carried about her since the age of 12 when she lost her leg to her dying breath on her deathbed in November 2012.
Beverly sold more paintings than an illegal immigrant has fleas, accumulated more wealth, followers, and fame for a good 30 years.  People came from across the country and even from around the world to visit her in her studio to see her spectacular works and to learn from her when she occasionally gave lessons to a select few.
Through her sons is how I know Beverly although I have met her on occasion but never knew the REAL Beverly until Chef Brian shared some memories with me one day.
As someone who grew up relatively poor during the Great Depression, Beverly always had this enormous drive to achieve success greater than whatever her parents had over the course of their lives.  Her Mom and Dad worked from sunup to sunset, never took days off or went on vacation, and worked for as long as they could until the time came when they could no longer labor.
Her father, Clarence, died with Alzheimer’s disease in a cruel and disgusting way as at the time he came down with this evil malady, there were no treatments other than to institutionalize the individual or to keep them at home, taking care of them until the moment they died.
Her mother, Florence, took care of Clarence with the help of her son and grandchildren and then about a decade or so after he passed away, she lost her life to cancer, a disease that seems to darken the doorstep of the family on a fairly frequent occasion.
Beverly had cancer herself THREE times and it was the third time that was the unlucky charm, the one that propelled her from our universe to the next one to reside with God.  We know she is there in His warm embrace and her family looks forward to reuniting with her one day despite what my former liberal, atheistic friends say does not exist.
Well, enough with the buildup, my friends, let us look at the fine assortment of paintings we have for you today as I truly believe you will enjoy looking at them as much as I do in presenting them.  Almost all of them are deserts but we do have a few different ones to serve as accents in our next batch of 15, numbers #0556-0570.
Let us look at them now:

I must say, I love spending time looking at the artworks of Beverly Carrick.  Say what you will about her level in the art world, we here at the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day contend that no one is greater than Beverly Carrick.  The woman is an amazing talent and I am sure you will all concur.
As for chefs and artistry and artists and talent, chefs recognize many things in the world around them as art.  We manufacture some unique garnishes so our plates appear gorgeous and spectacular just as we plate foods so they have the most appetizing appearance for the diners.
Artists on the other hand do not always recognize artistry in food preparation but some—a very select few—certainly do and that is why art, food, and wine go hand-in-glove together.  For Pete’s sake, folks, I am sure that YOU can see what I see when I view the paintings we present here every single week—extraordinary!
Thanks for joining me today; please visit me over at the main blog throughout the rest of the week as the summer continues to sizzle ever hotter, something the environmentalists tell us is ‘unnatural.’  Good Lord, folks, it is California, certain parts of it such as where the blog offices reside are ALWAYS hot—God intended for it to be this way.
Ah well, thanks for being here, mis amigos, we will continue with more of the same at the main blog so please, join me there.

Phil Manzanera released his next solo effort, the critically acclaimed, “Vozero” in 1999.  We have long been a fan of Mr. Manzanera as he is a unique musical talent, a man who can say volumes using the fewest notes as possible.  Other guitarists like Mr. Slow Hand can crank the notes out one after another or in long, complex collections, which amazes the world, while Manzanera can do much with less.  Add to the fact the preceding accomplishment, we also have him doing vocals, which is an added treat, a damned good reason as to WHY you should use the link we provide you here so you can go to Amazon.com.  Once there, you can pick it up in the format, the condition, and the price that works best for you.
