THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CULINARY POLITICS-ELEMENTAL NEWS OF THE DAY COMMENTARY-OPINION-SPORTS-FOOD SERVICE FOR WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30, 2017 BY CHEF CHERYL LA TIGRE

SUMMER SESSION 2017

BLOG POST #164 AT THE AICP-END

As a female artist, Beverly was ahead of her time
Honolulu, HI, 08-30-2017 Wednesday:  Aloha, welcome to the one place where we can shed the heaviness the world places atop us by viewing the beautiful Beverly Carrick original artworks.  As always, I find her paintings absolutely enthralling and look forward to buying as many of them as I can find on the cheap and socking them away for future fun and profit.
One thing about Beverly, she has a large body of work in that she began her artistic journey into the professional world back in the late 1950s.
From what her remaining family members tell me, she worked long and hard until in the early 1960s, she made a breakthrough in Los Angeles, California, when art galleries dealing with interior decorators began buying up her output.
Granted, she did not make a massive amount of cash doing it but from what I understand—and I have it on good authority—she used a few different names so she could hide her identity for the time when she would begin selling paintings for thousands of dollars under her own name.
Following her divorce of her first husband, Harry Carrick, Beverly had no choice but to take the dive into the deep end and to begin marketing her own works albeit with an agent in tow.
Moreover, she learned from a renowned art dealer in downtown Los Angeles, a gentleman named Howard, who provided her the guiding light necessary for her to navigate her own way through the nefarious world of professional art dealers.
Over time, she became adept at running her own business and in time made several million dollars from painting and selling her paintings, something many artists wish they could do but which seemingly eludes them.
Okay, now that I have had my say, let us view the selection of fabulous art we have for you today:

I hope you find the paintings we presented above to your liking because I sure as heck LOVE them.  I mean, who would not when you take the time to savor each one of them, as though you are enjoying a fresh haupia cake.
Friends, I need to mention something I hear on local radio whenever I come to Bakersfield and its surrounding areas, an advertisement for a boner pill called Noxitril.  I hear this add frequently and find it somewhat offensive because for a man to ‘get ‘er up,’ all he needs is a good woman willing to help him do it.
This advertisement, however, makes me sick because one of the things it urges its users to do is to ‘take it easy on your partner and don’t abuse your partner, you know, think of her.’
What a world into which, we have plunged when on TV and on radio, 24/7/365, we hear constant advertisements for one form of boner pill or another.  No wonder we have so many children born out of wedlock and the number of STDs is incredible.
Friends, can we not put some mystery back into the bedroom instead of urging everyone to use a product that medical science warns can make one lose their hearing or go blind?  Yikes!  Thank God Lalo does not need this sort of thing.
Thanks for joining me today and be sure to visit me over at the main blog, I await you there.
Our topic for discussion at the main blog regards the removal of Confederate Civil War statues and other monuments honoring those who served and those who died.  Even Bakersfield, California, where I presently am, has a section of their oldest cemetery set aside for those who paid the ultimate price in the War between the States.
I say that if we will not erase the athletic records of a criminals and those convicted of crimes such as O. J. Simpson (murderer), Pete Rose (baseball gambler while a coach in Major League Baseball), and another murderer, Aaron Hernandez, then why should we pull down statues honoring Generals Robert E. Lee or Stonewall Jackson?
It makes no sense and I am a Democrat!
Join me at the main blog NOW!
Aloha.
