WINTER SESSION 2017

 BLOGPOST #139 AT THE AICP-END

Hello and welcome to the secondary blog, my first stint of the year so let us make it a good one!
Honolulu, HI, 03-08-2017 Wednesday: Aloha, aloha, aloha, my friends, hello and welcome back for MY first stint of the year here at our secondary blog, the AICP-END BLOG, the place where we celebrate the late great Beverly Carrick.  We do some wonderful things here as we sit back, chill, and enjoy the awesome abilities of Beverly Carrick.
One of the things we have begun doing here is commenting on each painting so people have a better understanding as to what the backstory is for each one.  Beverly painted everything from what she saw or what gravitated into her mind, especially some of the amazing Hawaii scenes she painted over the years.
I am going to follow in the footsteps of my predecessors here at the blog, which means, I am going to comment on each painting, too, so if you are ready, let us start NOW:
The first painting for today, #0331, “Mountain Meadows,” an alpine scene could be here in Hawaii.
Sure, maybe not on Oahu but certainly upcountry on Maui.  Haleakala—the House of the Sun—is more than 10,000 feet in the sky and once you get up past Pukalani, you begin to see foliage and trees one would never have thought one would see on a Hawaiian island.  Look at this painting and dream about the HIGH COUNTRY on Maui although this painting is not a ‘Hawaiian’ one per se.
#0332, “Palo Verde,” is a beautiful blue natural desert with water flowing toward the viewer.  This is something that I always love to see in a painting—especially one by Ms. Beverly because that woman was a master of painting water—is a rivulet flowing towards the viewer.  Please, spend some time enjoying it and then let us move on to the next one:
“Spring Planting” is a glorious garden-style painting, one I know everyone is going to enjoy simply because it is so colorful.  Those of us who live in the islands enjoy garden scenes and who knows?—maybe if Google Blogger does not shut us down, maybe I will share some of MY garden photos with the readership.
“Sunset’s Beauty” and “Deep Shadows” are two gorgeous sunset deserts, one of the most magical times of the day.  I have taken several trips across the North American continent—taking great care NEVER to enter Mexico!—and the desert is an entity all to itself.
Both of these paintings will open your eyes to the God-given beauty of the desert as will some peyote cactus—wait—did I just say that?  Forgive me, God, I have kids but back in the day…
“The Old Line Camp” is a lovely alpine scene as was our first one and whether you know it or not, we do have cowboys on Maui and on Kauai, what we Hawaiians call ‘paniolos.’  Paniolo means cowboy in Hawaiian, which is a dying art on the mainland but here in Hawaii, it is alive and well.
The five paintings following this one—“Evening Peace,” “Golden Fire,” “Smoke Tree Canyon,” “Saguaros Bloom,” and “Sunset Again,”—are all variations of different deserts Beverly saw, captured with the camera lens of her mind and then transferred to canvass for the viewers to enjoy.
“O’ Denny’s Grape Stomp” is a unique, one-of-a-kind Beverly Carrick original, painted for an event to honor a Napa Valley winery or so the story goes.  Beverly did approximately three paintings that featured dinosaurs or reptiles in them of note and this is definitely one of them.
The final three paintings are deserts, too, so please, celebrate the stunning abilities Beverly possessed and was able to share with us, the avid viewers, for more than 60 years.  I wish I had the talent that Bev possessed in her pinky finger because if I did, I would feel that God was smiling upon me.  Here are the images:

I hope you enjoyed the beautiful paintings we enjoyed today, paintings that will emblazon the soul and the mind with raw talent, dripping raw talent, the kind that comes around once every century or so.
Friends, I do not know if you have read our other blog over the past few days but we have been having problems with Google Blogger—or so it seems—the kind of problems that make bloggers go crazy.
All too often, viewers get repeated error messages and an inability to enjoy viewing or reading the blog.
Moreover, we have repeatedly asked them to either shut down BOTH blogs or get out of our way and allow us to soar high into the stratosphere.  We have had massive numbers and we will have them again if Google would allow us to do what we do.
Please, protest on our behalf, demand that Google Blogger leave us alone and allow us to do our thing as it is only right—it is not up to them or to anyone else to pick ‘winners’ and ‘losers.’
Thanks for joining me today and make note that I will see you over at the main blog—if you can actually see it.  Aloha!

Phil Manzanera released his fourth solo album, “Guitarissimo 75-86” in 1986.  Always among the most eclectic and innovative guitarists in the world, Manzanera always attempted to play the guitar in ways in which, it did NOT sound as though it was a guitar.  We love the second part of the Roxy Music triumvirate’s amazing guitar chops and this album rocks the socks off the uninitiated and sends the ‘initiated’ to the depths of the Solar System.  Please, use the link we provide you here so you can go to Amazon.com where you can pick it up in the format, the condition, and the price that works best for you.
