SUMMER SESSION 2016

BLOGPOST #109 AT THE AICP-END

Welcome to the Secondary Blog
Honolulu, HI, 08-10-2016 Wednesday: What can one say about this amazing artist, the one we celebrate here every Wednesday, the one, the only Beverly Carrick?  Beverly is one of the all-time great artists of the world, someone I thank for giving me the heart and soul to appreciate NON-Hawaiian art.  Here in the islands, we always have paintings of ocean life and Polynesian paintings simulating something Gauguin might have created were he still alive and well.
Today, I have some beautiful paintings for you featuring the artist’s son, Brian Carrick, a person who sometimes writes here at the blog when his health permits him to do so along with a painting of the artist’s final beau, Jack Russell, when she was alive.
Two days ago on August 08, we celebrated what would have been Beverly’s 89th birthday but since she passed away in 2012, we celebrate her memory here at the blog.  I certainly hope that you and everyone you know visit this blog every Wednesday because we do our best to keep her memory alive.
If you are interested in buying a painting, currently, Stinky tells me the family lacks the business license with which, to do business, which is sad but it is what it is.  I suspect that if one truly wants to buy a painting then he or she could get in touch and work out some sort of deal so that you can obtain one of the few remaining artworks created by Beverly.
You see, her final paintings reside within a temperature controlled storage unit where they will continue being until the time comes to reopen a gallery and get her works back out in the public eye.  We hope you will join us here every Wednesday as we celebrate the life, times, and artworks of the nation’s greatest artist, Beverly Jamison Carrick.
Here we go:
BEVERLY CARRICK ORIGINAL ARTWORKS FOR AUGUST 10, 2016:

#1372 16” x 12” “Chefs”

#1373 30” x 40” “Winter Living”

#1374 20” x 16” “Jack Russell”

#1375 20” x 16” “At the Casino”

#1376 5” x 7” “Yellow Roses”

#1377 16” x 20” “The Gardeners of Las Palmas”

#1378 12” x 16” “Sparrow Party”

#1379 8” x 10” “Hard Living”

#1380 11” x 14” “Crashing Surf”

#1381 10” x 8” “Jack Sinclair Russell”

#1382 20” x 24” “Pheasant Country”

#1383 8” x 10” “Purple Haze”

#1384 20” x 24” “Backstage at the Harvey”

#1385 16” x 12” “Too Many Cooks”
I have to say that I am extremely stoked to have two of the chef paintings Beverly created in the final years of her life because food is very much akin to art.  Nowadays—and especially in Hawaii—we combine art with food, which results in magnificent dishes the likes of which, the folks on the mainland truly have not seen unless, of course, they come visit us here.
We have some of the all-time greatest chefs living and thriving throughout the islands, people such as the great Sam Choy.  All across the islands—with the exception of Niihau, there are four-and-five star chefs, trained across the world in various culinary academies that have either returned home or chosen to relocate here so they can practice their craft.
We hope you will spend your precious vacation dollars here in Hawaii as there are so many happy times awaiting you, times that come in all price ranges and vacation packages that will give you memories for life.  Email me and look me up and I will direct you to my restaurant where we will wine and dine you in style.
God bless and aloha.
Thanks.

This is a photo of me back in the 1980’s when I was working at a hotel in Honolulu, HI, on Waikiki Beach.  I began my career in the early 1970’s when I apprenticed to cook under one of the masters on the Big Island where I was born.  I moved to Oahu in the early 1980’s after having worked in both Kona and Hilo, HI, and have been there for most of my professional career.  I have also worked on Maui for a few years (1995-1998) and have been on Kauai (2001-2003) before returning to Honolulu.  My goal is to prepare the next generation of chefs for the future and to help the underprivileged in their struggle to attain careers in the foodservice industry.
