SUMMER SESSION 2016

BLOGPOST #103 AT THE AICP-END

Welcome to the Secondary Blog
Los Angeles, CA, 06-29-2016 Wednesday: Good day, folks, this is the one place where we manage to find some time to do something other than talk about the terrible political situation here in America by viewing Beverly Carrick original artworks instead.  Beverly was an amazing woman; she had talent that made many of us agog when we had the opportunity to look at her paintings in the flesh.  In the foodservice industry, fine wine, good food, music, and art all complement one another and that is why when one goes to a fine-dining establishment, they find ALL of the necessary aforementioned components.
Here in Los Angeles, California, we have so many fine dining restaurants, whether in country clubs, hotels, or stand-alone that one could eat out every single night and take more than 10 years before they came around full circle.  If you have ever visited Beverly Hills or Long Beach or Santa Monica, then you know all of the glorious food establishments there are.  In them, you will find music, art, and other representations of the better things in life, things the flipping jihadists want to take away from us.  This is WHY ALL Americans must stand together to defend our culture, our way of life, and the
Constitution that guarantees us the rights granted to us by God.
Ready to look at some Beverly Carrick original artworks?—if so, let’s go:

TODAY IN HISTORY—JUNE 29, 2016:

Deep Purple featuring Ian Paice (Left):
  1. 1377: A French invasion fleet lands at Rye, England (see the movie “Robin Hood” starring Russell Crowe).
  2. 1534: Jacques Cartier discovers the Prince Edwards Islands off Canada.
  3. 1613: London’s original Globe Theater, where many of Shakespeare’s plays were performed, was destroyed by a fire sparked by a cannon shot during a performance of “Henry VIII.”  However, authorities at the time reported no fatalities.
  4. 1767: Britain approved the Townsend Revenue Act, which imposed import duties on glass, paint, oil, lead, paper, and tea shipped to the American colonies.  However, colonists bitterly protested, prompting Parliament to repeal the duties—except for tea.
  5. 1776: Father Francisco Palou founds Mission San Francisco de Asis in what is now the immoral city of San Francisco.
  6. 1854: Through the Gadsden Purchase, the United States buys parts of Mexico (adding to Arizona and New Mexico) for $10 million.
  7. 1863: Confederate General Robert E. Lee orders his troops to begin gathering around Gettysburg.
  8. 1880: France annexed Tahiti, which became a French colony on December 30, 1880.
  9. 1913: The Second Balkan War broke out as Bulgaria attacked Serbia and Greece, its former allies from the First Balkan War.
  10. 1927: The first trans-Pacific airplane flight was completed as Lt. Lester J. Maitland and Lt. Albert F. Hegenberger arrived at Wheeler Field in Hawaii, aboard the Bird of Paradise, an Atlantic-Fokker C-2, after flying 2,400 miles from Oakland in 25 hours and 50 minutes.
  11. 1929: Mexico and the Vatican sign an accord.
  12. 1933: Actor-director Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle died in New York at age 46.

  14. 1943: Germany begins withdrawing U-boats from the North Atlantic in anticipation of the Allied invasion of Europe.  Elsewhere, the original bassist of Fleetwood Mac, Robert “Bob” Brunning, was born in England.
  15. 1944: The U.S. Seventh Army finally conquers the Cherbourg Peninsula following D-Day on June 06.  The Germans launch at counterattack at Caen.

  20. 1956: Actress Marilyn Monroe married playwright Arthur Miller in a civil ceremony in White Plains, New York and again in a Jewish ceremony on the First of July.  Elsewhere, the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 undergoes signing, which officially created the United States Highway System—this occurred under GOP President Dwight D. Eisenhower and not a Democrat.
  21. 1964: After an 83-day filibuster in the Senate, the Civil Rights Bill of 1964 finally passes.
  22. 1967: Jerusalem was re-unified as Israel removed barricades separating the Old City from the Israeli sector.  Meanwhile, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones receives a sentence of ONE year for drug possession.

  31. 2006: The U.S. Supreme Court rules that President George W. Bush’s plan to try Guantanamo Bay detainees in military tribunals violates U.S. and international law.  What are we supposed to do with this Islamist trash?

MORE: CLIMAX BLUES BAND

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29, 2016

In 1988, the Climax Blues Band released their next album, “Drastic Steps.”  This album was somewhat a hodgepodge of the band’s music, great stuff undoubtedly but music the fans already knew or had heard.  Performing on the album were the following musicians: Pete Haycock (guitars/vocals), Colin Cooper (saxophones/vocals), Derek Holt (bass guitar/keyboards/vocals), Pete Filleul (keyboards), John Cuffley (drums).  We hope you will use our link so you can go to Amazon.com and pick it up in the format, the condition, and the price that works for you—you will be glad you did.
